FPL Storm Secure Underground Program: Construction Phase Begins in Schenley Park

We’re excited to share an update on the FPL project to improve electric reliability in Schenley Park by undergrounding the neighborhood power lines! After securing all necessary approvals and easements from homeowners, FPL is ready to move forward with the construction phase. Here's what to expect:

Key Dates & Details

• Construction Begins: December 12, 2024
  Trucks and equipment will be visible throughout the neighborhood as crews use low-impact drilling technology to minimize disruptions to landscaping and trees.

• Conversion & Overhead Line Removal: February 6, 2025
  Once the underground installation is complete, a brief outage will occur to switch service to the new underground cables. Overhead lines will then be removed, although non-FPL utility lines (e.g., cable, internet) may remain overhead at the discretion of their providers.

• Property Restoration: April 3, 2025
  FPL crews will restore properties to their pre-construction condition.
